Sports Medicine and Recreational Activities
Sports medicine is a specialized branch of medicine that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries related to sports and physical activity. It combines medical knowledge with exercise science and aims to optimize athletes' performance while minimizing the risk of injuries. Sometimes it takes a coach or trainer to show you how to modify your form, and typically coaches and trainers look to the physical medicine doctors to rehabilitate their players.
Recreational activity such as playing an instrument, traveling, reading books, electrical housework, etc... are also affected by disability. Dr Spears is familiar with some instruments and international travel. It often requires some expertise in the sport in addition to medical training to understand a mechanism of injury and how to rehabilitate from the injury. Dr Spears has an athletic history particularly in tennis, golf, basketball, and football.
